  • Cooking measures convert by volume. Converting cups to grams depends on the ingredient and is not supported.

Troubleshooting

My gallon conversion does not match another website

There are two gallons. A US gallon is 3.785 liters and an imperial (UK) gallon is 4.546 liters. Choose the one used where your recipe or measurement comes from.

My 1 TB drive shows less space on my computer

Drive makers use 1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, while Windows counts in powers of 1024 and labels the result TB. Convert TB to TiB to see the number your computer shows.

Questions and answers

How many centimeters are in an inch?

Exactly 2.54 centimeters. To convert inches to centimeters, multiply by 2.54; to convert centimeters to inches, divide by 2.54.

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32. For example, 20 °C is 20 × 9 ÷ 5 + 32 = 68 °F. To go back, subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9.

How many pounds are in a kilogram?

About 2.20462 pounds. One pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg.

How many kilometers are in a mile?

One mile is exactly 1.609344 kilometers, so 100 km/h is about 62.14 mph.

Is a kilobyte 1000 or 1024 bytes?

Both are used. In the international standard, 1 kB is 1000 bytes and 1 KiB is 1024 bytes. Some operating systems show KiB values labeled KB. The converter includes both.

How do I convert L/100 km to mpg?

Divide 235.215 by the L/100 km value to get US mpg, or 282.481 for UK mpg. 8 L/100 km is about 29.4 mpg (US). The converter does this for you under Fuel economy.
